Training Leaders in Sustainable Agriculture
The Rainforest Alliance works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behavior. We help farmers realize greater economic benefits by ensuring that ecosystems within and around their operations are protected and that their workers are well-trained and enjoy safe conditions, proper sanitation, health care and housing.
The Rainforest Alliance was a founding member of the Sustainable Agriculture Network (SAN), a coalition of leading conservation organizations that promotes the social and environmental sustainability of agricultural activities through a comprehensive set of standards.
The Rainforest Alliance created the Sustainable Agriculture Training Platform to provide trainers and farmers all over the world with a practical and comprehensive learning resource. The Online Training Courses are accessible to all who visit the website and covers all aspects of the SAN standards in a series of 19 modules that feature photos of farms and videos where certified farmers share their experiences. After taking the Online Training Courses, the users can take the Self-assessment Quizzes to evaluate their understanding of the course content. The Online Library provides more than 150 visual training materials available in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Indonesian, Vietnamese and Chinese. Registered users can take the Final Exam as the first step to become Rainforest Alliance approved trainers.
